GRA’s state-of-the-art sand & gravel quarry processing facility supplies crushed granite, gravels, aggregates, rocks, and ripraps.
When Supply Meets Demand
The Owens Valley is primed for sustainable and responsible development. Many construction projects are being proposed and planned, and demand for aggregates is poised to soar.
Grinding Rock Aggregates will be the Valley’s key supplier.
An early high-level assessment from the Division of Energy and Mineral Development’s (DEMD, US Department of the Interior) professional geologists indicates that the Fort Independence Reservation is rich in resources, as it is situated on an alluvial fan that can be readily mined.
-
Onsite surface excavation volumes provide visibility to 1.5 to 2 million tons of material from shallow excavation efforts.
-
Additional raw resources can be developed in two ways: by deeper excavation and via additional land holdings. The DEMD is currently engaged in identifying and helping the Fort Independence Indian Community purchase incremental lands within the valley to secure long-term raw material, to drive the business and to strategically position for possible expansion.
-
The Tribe will be applying for a grant from the DEMD to complete a rigorous resource assessment to understand the full-scope of resources beyond the currently identifiable two million tons within the reservation.
